Reality shows have a tendency to dramatize the actual reality of a situation, who would have thought? E News’ hit reality show, Botched, provides viewers with plastic surgery disaster stories. People who fall victim to these disasters are often those who try and cut corners every which way – i.e. a surgeon who charges very little.
Paying $150 for an eye cosmetic surgery in Mexico sounds like a pretty good deal, right? Well, not for aspiring model, Myesha, who was featured on Botched.
Myesha went to Mexico to get her large under eye bags removed – it was supposed to be a cheap, quick fix. In reality, the cheap, quick fix did not make the eye bags go away. Instead it made matters worse, causing her eyes to dramatically change for the worse. Myesha’s unrealistic expectation is a testimony to the saying, “you get what you pay for.”
Here are a few things to consider before getting cosmetic/plastic surgery:
- Make sure your plastic surgeon is board-certified.
- Remember that not all cosmetic surgeons are plastic surgeons.
- Make sure your surgeon thoroughly explains your procedure to you and keeps record of it.
- Avoid bargain-basement cosmetic surgery centers.
- Examine the doctor’s before-and-after photos.
Taking the time to do your research before investing in cosmetic and plastic procedures is key to making an informed decision and can save you time in the long run. Do not try and cut corners; do your due diligence and it will all pay off. As the old saying goes, better to be safe than sorry.
